The reasons behind our successful formula There is a world of difference between Ralph & Evans Herbal Dispensaries and purchasing herbal medicines in most other outlets. Firstly because all of our herbalists are competent practitioners in their own right, we can advise to a professional standard on the medicinal actions of herbs, and on the best treatment-strategy to take. We provide free advice in all our Dispensaries. We do not just sell herbs as cures or treatments for illnesses as though they were drugs; rather, we discuss the actions the herbs have within the human body. When the herbs with the correct action are used, the person suffering the illness is likely to be helped. In a consultation, we carry out an assessment of the physiology and constitution of each individual person, which leads to the selection of those herbs appropriate for them as individuals. Secondly we only sell and use pure, whole-plant herbal medicines (as herbalists have always used them for centuries), and not chemically-engineered, industrially-produced concentrated or standardized extracts made from plants - which really have no right to be called herbal medicines. Ask your current supplier whether your herbal medicine has been manufactured in a laboratory or whether it is a whole-plant product that has not been artificially tampered with, and you will see what we mean. Herbal medicine treats the underlying imbalances in the system as a whole to encourage your own body to function better, in a similar way to acupuncture, and does not just treat the symptoms in the way that drug medicine does. Medicinal plants have been tested on humans for over 5,000 years, and would not have been passed down to us by our ancestors unless they had been proven to provide an effective and safe form of therapy. There are no side-effects with real herbal medicines, unlike with the artificially-engineered forms of plants produced in laboratories which are beginning to cause side-effects! Nevertheless it can prove to be both unwise and ineffective to prescribe and take herbal medicines for yourself or your family, with only an incomplete knowledge of their proper use.
