Prescriptions and Patient Info

Information for Patients:

If you wish to order a repeat prescription, please call the clinic where you were seen, and give your details to the receptionist on duty. They can access your prescription details. They do not have access to your case notes and so any other queries should be directed to your herbalist.

We can post your prescription (plus postage and packing charge), or you can collect it during reception times. Please call ahead, preferably the day before, to make sure it will be ready for you.

General Information:

Herbal medicine prescriptions are given following a personal consultation with one of our qualified herbalists. With your permission, a medical examination such as taking your blood pressure may be carried out, and any necessary diagnostic tests performed.

We are trained to consult and diagnose, following which we compose a herbal medicine prescription for each individual patient, often containing up to a dozen different herbs blended together, with a precise dosage given following the individual assessment.

A herbal prescription will almost never be the same for any two people with the same illness, since it is necessary to give the right balance of medicines on an individual basis. It is the person who is treated, not the illness. The dosage is also a very important factor.

This individually-tailored approach is the secret of the herbalist`s ability to often help, especially where there has been no help from other types of approach. The traditional practice of herbal medicine is definitely an art as well as a science.

The prescription will be changed at follow-up consultations as required, as the person`s health progresses under treatment.
